Miller). to go ONE LESS HEADACHE for local motorists. Fern Hollow Road is now open. There’s good news this week for Sewjckley Heights motorists and Stanley W. Kuny, supervisor of transportation for Quaker Valley School Barriers will be removed on one Allegheny County works project that closed a portion of Pern Hollow Road for more than two months. A collapsed culvert abutting the Henry Oliver Jr. place has been -rebuilt and the road resurfaced. Repairs on Blackburn Road near the William P. Snyder estate will continue with Sept. 15 as the projected date for completion. There, workmen are repairing a road that had deteriorated badly, presenting a hazardous condition, staid G. Robert Surls, manager of Sewickley Heights Borough. County crews are actually ahead of schedule on the Fern Hollow job, according to Surls. "They promised it would be AUg. 29, but now they are talking about tomorrow (Aug. 25).’’ Surls said die county had acknowledged"^ the need for repairs at the two spots for , five years, but there was never enough money in the budget. When the county made'the offer in 1987,v the Heights accepted in spite of the inconvenience of putting up with two barriers at onetime. v Opening of Fern Hollow Road means fewer headaches for Kuny who routes all the school buses: Until the work is completed on Blackburn Road, Kuny will have to send buses tip Pony Hollow Road, something he would prefer not to do because of the steep and unpaved conditions there. There will be one morning run on Pony Hollow Road and two in the afternoon. Until the barrier.on Blackburn Road, comes down, children who live between Country Club and Blackburn roads will be picked up at the intersection of the two roads..
