George and Councilman James K. Maloney, both Republicans, and Bell Acres Democratic Councilman Emil Z. Urban failed to win their parties’ nomination for re-election in the primary on May 19. In Sewickley’s second ward, where two seats are open, Mrs. George came in third behind Richard K. Brandt and Hugh A. McMaster Iir. Mrs. George has served on council for eight years and has served as council’s representative to the planning commission. Brandt stated, “I appreciate the support shown by the voters of the second ward, and I look forward to the general election in November and to serving on Sewickley Council in January 1968.” As the Herald went to press, attempts to reach, Mrs. George had been unsuccessful. Hugh McMaster has served on the Sewickley Planning Commission since 1985 and is interested in continuing to work in planning and zoning. In the first ward, with one open council seat, Peter Schlicht upset James Maloney, who had served on council for 12 years. “I think that the election results just confirm what many voters have told me,” said Schlicht. “They wanted a change. They felt council has not been representing their best interests.” Incumbent Michael M. Lyons was the sole candidate for the Republican nomination in the third ward. In Bell Acres Borough, incumbent Emil Urban lost his bid, while incumbents Larry Efyor and John Armstrong received nominations. • Three seats are -vacant on the Bell Acres council. Receiving Democratic nominations are John Armstrong, Nancy D’Amato and Anthony Russo. Runn- ing on the Republican ticket in November will be Evelyn Scioscia, Linda Vasiladiotis and Larry-Pryor. Ray Bacom lost his bid for a Republican nomination. In the Quaker Valley School Board election, the battle for the two-year term in Region I was postponed until November. Thomas J, Michael, who is currently completing the term of the -late Joseph Palmer, received the Democratic nomination, and Genevia Mozolak received the 'Republican nomination.
