Workers from Belich General Contracting in Aliquippa, started cutting down the rusted tower almost two weeks ago in sections. Frank Simons, owner of the property where the tower is situated, said one of the sec- tions came down with such force that his wife thought an airplane crashed near her properly by the way the house shook. The water tower has stood at the site since the late 1920s. "It's pretty well rusted," Simons said. "Its a liability" Continued on Page 3 Splash pad project to begin soon By Joanne Braun STAFF WRITER A community group that won an apparent victory to get a proposed splash pad moved in Henle Park now is concerned about a skate park on Washington Street. Following an informal meeting on Saturday, the Friends of Henle Park and council President Roger Nanni were of the same mind when it came to relocating the splash pad from one part of the park to another. They also agreed to a town meeting this fall to unveil the other aspects of a development plan, which includes a skate park. The Friends asked council to rescind its vote on the planned location of the splash pad because they argued it would ruin the atmosphere around the war memorial in the park.
