JUST FOR MOM Library brings kids, art together Seventeen children prepared small containers filled with a live bonsai tree as gifts to their moms on Mother’s Day during Sewickley Public Library’s “Surprise for Mom* night. The event was sponsored by the Village Garden Club, a member of the Garden dub of America. The group provided the soil, the pots and the day junipers for the children. Before the planting, Laurena Schultz, part-time children’s librarian, explained the ancient oriental art to the first—fifth graders, Some of the children had no experience with gardening, but they enjoyed the project all the same Schultz’s idea brought giggles as the young gardeners considered ancient trees just inches high. Staff writer ■ ___________ Leetsdale Borough continues to wait as environmental approval for the proposed Ferry Street overpass travels through the appropriate depart, mental channels within.'' PennDOT. i Since State Sen. Jack t-Wagner (D-Megheny) and Rep. Susan LaughHn (D-Allegheny/Beaver) addressed a news conference that accelerated the pace of overpass construction early, in 2000, Leetsdale has followed the prescribed measures to state-sponsored road work. “While some officials may not have this crossing on their most dangerous list, the Ferry Street crossing is without a doubt one of the most dangerous crossings in Pennsylvania " Wagner said 15 months ago. TriLine Associates, the Canonsburg engineer agreed upon by Allegheny County, PennDOT and Leetsdale, anticipates receiving suggestions to its Design Field View Plans from PennDOT within the next two months. Once the transportation department registers its recommendations, TriLine can proceed with submitting its final Design Field View Plan (DFV). In its recently released status report #22 to PennDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation), Triline engineers continued to project a late June target date to have die Design Field View approved.
