John Pippy had for hearing good wishes and getting his life and campaign in order before answering the call to active duty. As a 32-year-old captain in the U.S. Army Reserves and member of the 332nd Engineer Company, Pippy set off Monday morning for Kittanning as the first step in joining Operation Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom. "I’ve always known there was an opportunity to be called Up," he said, "like the 100,000 other reservists who play a crucial role in any major operation. We’ve been training for this moment." Ihe call came Friday morning through his unit’s official alert. Pippy then phoned his wife Kathy, who was in N.Y. squiring his young daughter through audition appointments. His staffs in the Sewickley, Moon Township and the new campaign office in Bethel Park were next to receive the news via conference call. "They rallied around ma It’s great knowing you have friends around you." These supportive friends — four legislative aides and two campaign coordinators — will be in charge of continuing Pippy’s work as state representative in the 44th district and of keeping his run for the 37th State Senate seat (formerly held by Tim Murphy) in focus. "They’ll get the message out, keep issues moving forward," he said. "I've got a good group of volunteers, staff and supporters."
