Council eyes budget with tax decrease BY BOBBV CHERRY A proposed preliminary Sewicldey budget for next year could lower the bor-o^^h’s millage rate. Sewickley Council members this month could approve a budget that calls for a drop in the borough property tax rate of 0.S miUs, Manager Kevin Flannery said. The mUlage rate wo^d go from 7.3 mills to 6,5 mills. Council members have until the end of the year to finalize a budget. Causing a tonimdrum for council members and borough staff is this year’s Allegheny Goimty reassessment, Flannery said. While the number of appeals in the borough are down from a decade ago, it’s unclear when and how much money some homeowners could get back from the borough, he said.
