A group of 20 or more - the .number grows daily - Quaker Valley residents planned to ' storm the Quaker Valley School ■ Board meeting Tuesday night with an agenda of their own. Theas-of*yet-unnamed group, led by Peter Floyd, were to present a petition asking for the resignation of the school board and Superintendent R. Gerard Longo, (Because the Herald goes to press Monday night, a report on the meeting wil follow in next week’s paper.) The group met Sunday to circulate the petition, which was introducedprimarily inresponse to the 37 percent average assessment increases for Quaker Valley properties. L “I’ve never seen any thing like it,” said Bill Provenzano, of Sewickley, president of Ohio Valley Hospital and part of , the revolt. . “It’s sort of like the Boston TeaParty. Theproblemispeople are being taxed beyond their . ability to pay.” . Increases on individual properties, according to some reports, have reached as much as 400 percent. “If it were only one person, there probably wouldn’tbemuch sympathy,” continued Provenzano. “But these are a lot of elderly people on fixed incomes...and young couples, . “They’re being asked to pay . an extra $300 a month that they Just don’t have. _ (The school board is) driving people out of their homes, I mean, come on.” Asm! the goal of the as-of-yet-unnamed revolting pity? “To force the school board to do something,” said Provenzano.
