Morrow of Maplo Lane, Edgeworth, won hiis Navy ‘Wings of Gold’ and was commissioned nn Ensign in the Naval Reserve last week, following completion of tlio proscribed flight training course at the Pensacola, .Florida, training contor, .t3id ‘Annapolis lof tlid AiiV HO will go on active duty at one of tiro Navy’s air operational training centers before -being assigned to a combat zone. Prior to eiiitqring the Naval service, lie spent throe and a ¡half years at Priacetoii, where ho was a member of tho 'Varsity soccer and golf teams. Taking Advanced Flight Training Daniel Loot Shields, son of Mir. and Mira. W. Dickinson Shields of Chestnut Boad, Edgeworth, is talcing lus advanced flying training alt Moody Field, Valdosta, Georgia. Capt. F. H. McKniglit Attends School (Hermisfcon, Oregon, ¡Herald) Captain Francis II. McKniglit, who has boon Depot Property Officer a.t the Umatilla Ordnance Depot for ni'orc than a year, has ibecji ordered to attend the Provflst Mar.slial General Sdhool at Fort Custer, Michigan, as a student in Military Government Specialist Officers Course beginning December 26, 1943. It is expected that, at the completion of this ©ourse, Captain McKniglit will bo ordered overseas in connection With tho .military government of liberated or Conquered territory. Captain McKniglit, besides acting as Plant Property Oflicer, was ako Historian, Salvage Officer, and porformod numerous cither functions, lie is an ardent Hunter and bicyclist. Both ho and Mt'S. McKniglit contributed much to tlio social activities at 'the depot, and their departure is greatly regretted by their many friends at tho depot and lin neighboring communities. Mrs., McKniglit Will establish a teni-poraryJiome in Walla Walla, .where the Misses %itura and Jean McKniglit are attendino- the .St. Pa,til’s School. Two Sewickley boys are among tho 311 from Pennsylvania who, are training at the preflight school of ¡the ¡San Antonio, Texas) Aviation Center. Thoy are Cadet Stanley Paterson MiiPhorson, of 7.14 Blackburn Avenue, andi Biciiard Claif .15uit of 832 Centennial Avenue. After nine weeks’ intensive training they will win the silver Wings of AAF pilots and bo ready to fly. Naval Aviation 'Cadet Richard T. Flick, Jr,, son of Mrs. Virginia li; Bea, ‘Windward,’ Sewickley Heights, having completed three months’ physical Coil« ditioning and ground school work at Athens, Geòrgia, has now beoti M'd&rcd to tho Naval Air Station at Otfijiniwtt, Iowa, to begin progressive flight' ;fcmin* lug ptepnarahm- to joining a combat unit. & Brothers Meet At Home For the flrst time since a year ago ■September, the two sons of Mrs. Bernice G. Barger of Glen Mitchell BOad, Osborn^ wero a;t home together last week-cii%.,, First Lieutenant William Barger of the Axmy Engineers, arrived Sunday morning oil the week-end pass and his brother, Private Eddie Baxger, arrived Sunday night from the Citadel, •Charleston, S, 0., where he is studying engineering in the Army Student Training Program. Lieutenant Barger is stationed at New York and had to return Monday, but his brother is not duo back tub school, until midnight Saturday of this week, Completes Basic Byron Bruce Courtney,. Seaman 2nd Class, of_ 025 Fountain Street, has completed his basic training at Sampson, N. Y.( and has been granted loam Upon his return, lie will be eligible for fiivther assignment which may qualify him for a petty officer.rating, SZQO&
