Named in the three-count indictment were Thomas Frey, 32, and Trrna Hall, 18, both of Pleasantvilio Homes, Beaver Falls, and Bruce Bomesburg, 31, and Kimberly Carpenter, 27, whose address is listed just as Beaver County. Frey was arrested May 22, while Ms. Hall turned herself into authorities May 27. Both are free on bond. Bomesburg and Ms. Carpenter were arrested on Thursday and bad a hearing before federal magistrate at 2:30 p.m. that day. All four face charges of conspiring to commit credit card fraud, possession of stolen mail and credit card fraud. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Constance Bowden, who presented the case to the grand jury, the four, if convicted, face sentences of up to 15 years in prison, fines of $500,000 or both. The indictment states that between February 18 and May 22 of this year the four possessed credit cords that had been stolen from residential mail boxes and used them to make purchases in excess of $11,000. According to John Wisniewski of the United States Postal Inspection Service, which investigated the case after area residents reported finding mail that had been opened and rifled through, the investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely. “We believe there are more people involved, but these were the four we felt sure about right now,” Wisniewski said. ‘We are looking at at least two or three other individuals as well." Wisniewski said information continues to come in that indicates that areas of Sewickley Heights, Beil Acres and Leet Township were among the favorite targets of the ring. But gathering that information remains a slow process. “It is tough when some of your victims probably don’t even know they are victims yet," Wisniewski said. People who suspect they may have been victimized should call Ihe Postal Inspection Service 24 hours a day at 359-7S00. QV seeks dollars $4 million bond issue considered iy Dim S. ttreetad ________Staff writer_____ While the renovation work at Quaker Valley schools continues with some fervor, the school board finance committee has agreed to consider a $4 million bond issue that will help pay for. the project. A final vote on the measure was scheduled to be taken at last night’s legislative meeting. Approximately $900,000 is owed to complete work already approved by the board to bring the buildings up to 1990 standards. The remainder of the money in the bond will be put toward other necessary improvements at both sites and for the district as a whole. Scott Bossung, district business administrator, presented the details of the bond purchase at June’s finance committee meeting. He explained the timing of the purchase, the projected rate of payback and a list of items that the bond would fund. To be purchased immediately, and paid back within five years, are technology-related items and some additions to the bus fleet. The amount to be spent on used vehicles, which will update the fleet, is $350,000-$400,000. More tech-ed improvements are listed in the 10-year payback category, in addition to phone room infrastructure, physical education supplies, furniture costs, cafeteria and ^maintenance equipment. Anything for the actual building project will be funded in the 20-year payback category including the $1)00,000 already owed. Districts can borrow only to the length of time of the life of the assets Bossung estimated that $1.5 to $2 million wiil be spent with- ■ Continued ox Pago 2
