While the adults were busy trying to find the best bargains In town, the little ones, like Stacie Benedict, who was In town visiting her grandmother, Eleanor Benedict of Hill Street, Sewickloy, found plenty of interesting attractions to keep them occupied. Photo byEd Gaiicic Jr- Search ends for Osborne School board expected to OK hiring of Fusco Mhr ■; The long, tedious search for Osborne Elementary’s new principal appears to be over. Pending school board approval at last night’s meeting, Mary Ann Fusco will be taking the reins at Osborne. She was Unanimously chosen to fill the post by the selection committee, which included two Osborne parents, five Osborne teachers, four central staff members and one district principal. Mrs. Fusco, no relation to Dr. Robert Fusco of SewickleyNet fame, spent 25 years with Hempfield Area School District, one of the largest in western Pennsylvania. I^rom 1390 to 1993 she served as cm elementary principal within the district. Quaker Valley’s intimate size was one factor that attracted her to apply for the position at Osborne. “It has a fine reputation about quality education,” she says. “And the uniqueness of a small school district can create opportunities for everyone “Probably one of the nicest things is you get a chance to know everyone in the school district.” : Min, Fusco is a doctoral candidate in educational administration at the University of Pittsburgh. While at Hempfield, she held various positions, including educational consultant, instructional leader for staff development, reading resource teacher and elementary teacher. Most recently, she was Hempfield -Area’s K-12 coordinator of curriculum and staff development. “It will be really hard when I make that break.
