Brouse, Jr. Vained Sales Director Edward G.' JBrpuse,. Jr. has joined Dardanell Publications, publishers of the Moon Township and Coraopolis Record and the SewTckley Herald. The. announcement of Mr. Brouse’s appoint* meiit t6 the position of Director of Sales was made this morning by Edward L. Dardanell, owner and publisher of the, two newspapers. Mr. Brouse will be in charge of sales developilnent in both display and classified advertising. Working with Mr. Brouse in Coraopolis will be Ralph Likins, advertising manager of the Record and Jane Corman, sales representative. In Sewickley, he will be assisted by Gizella Mato,, advertising manager for the Herald. A 1968 graduate of Journalism from Bethany, College in Bethany, W. Va„ Broilse has served as Ad^ vertising Representative on two Pennsylvania dailies. After graduation, Brouse worked with The Ne.w Daily Messenger" in homestead, and most recently with the • Beaver County Times,. , A member and officer of Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Bethany College, Brouse was also involved with Pi Delta Epsilon Journalism Fraternity, school publications and intraniural sports. • Mr. Brouse resides in Robinson Township. > E. G. Brouse, Jr. Sewickley Hills Borough Council has requested their solicitor to prepare a new Borough ordinance limiting the speed on all Borough roads. The maximum limit wiE be 35 miles per hour. Solicitor A1 Dilman will prepare the ordinance for Council action at their next mieeting. He also said the ordinance can limit the speed on County and State roads within the Borough if the ■ Borough has obtained the proper speed limit permits. The request, made at the August 3 meeting, stemmed from a discussion of the new 35 mile per hour speed limit established : for Glenfield Road. The Borough has six months from June 22 to erect the signs. The State approved the limit on that date. State Golf Tourney At Sewickley Heights Sewickley Heights Golf. Club will host the 54th Pennsylvania State Open Golf Tournament" on August 10 and 11. The best amateur golfers in the state will be competing against the professional golfers. The new names would be Pothoje Roads One and Two. Mrs. Margaret Schuette, Borough Secretary, reported that the July tax collections were $1,001.49. She also reported *that a refund of $50.00 has been received from Allegheny County. The fee accompanied the request for the burning variance. The variance from the County pollution laws was granted in blanket form to 81 communities. Touncilman Leo Blank suggested that the custodian of the new police and fire monitor radio be requested to make monthly reports to Council on the previous months activities. Mayor Hartle will make the. official request. State To Resurface Way Hollow First week of September is the promised date for the resurfacing of Way Hollow Road. The promise was made in a letter from E. E. Mack, Superintendent of Maintenance for the State Highways Bureau for Allegheny County, to C. J. Raifisburg, Jr., mayor of Sewickley Heights. . In June, Mr, Ramsburg and John C. Oliver, Jr., wrote a letter to the state requesting cor-. rectiOn. of the condition on Way Hollow Road in Edgeworth and Sewickley Heights, Village Green>; A Soraetinie Place, Beckons To Shoppers RELAXING IN THE VILLAGE Green are Rosemarie Shaughnessy and Janet Green. By Betty Devlin Speaking as one of the many sidewalk superintendents who so interestedly watched the creation of the new structure, “The Village Green”, on Broad Street in Sewickley, it is a pleasure to report that now that it is completed it’s more delightful than expected. The following information (courtesy of Sam Green) gives th6 background thinking on the project and credits all the area people who have been involved. “The idea sprang from discussions on how to make life more viable ih the urban community -specifically Sewickley. The object then became to take a piece of the neighborhood and transform it to .a higher Usage, The somewhat' pathetic grass plot ne.'Jt to the Campbell Green Cun-isolo Building was selected, “The Village Green” was intended primarily for the architects, engineers and artists who work in the neighboring buildings (Continued oiv Page 15) THE VILLAGE GREEN from Broad Street looks mighty inviting to a weavy shopper seeking a cool spot ,tfi stop and refresh with coffee or a cool beverage. :r
