Mr. C. H. Guth intends leaving: some day this week*for New York City, where ho will purchase a large stock of holiday goods. Mr. William Shields is having a substantial concrete walk laid In fropt of his West Main Street property.An elocutionary entertainment will be given in the Court House on the night of November 22. for the benefit of the Pennsylvania Memorial Home hospital department. The New Jefferson Hotel was not opened for the reception of guests on Monday as it was expected to be. It will tak«' nearly two weeks before it will be fully completed and in running order. Charles \V Perry, who is employed in the Union Bargain Store at Du- Bois, was in town part of last week. Beginning on Monday of this week Mr. Perry will be in the same firm's large store at Falls Creek. The November term of the Court of Quarter Sessions met on Monday morning. The list consists of 54 cases. A large crowd of principals, witnesses and attorneys are in attendance. The following constables were appointed tipstaves: I. B. Mc- Laughlin, Summerville borough: George Shultz. Union Township, and M. R. Crawford, of Washington Township. Foreman of Grand Jury, John McMurray, of Brookville. Constable S. G. Pysher, of Hose Township, is in charge of the grand Jury. Applicants for license at the January term of court are hustling to get signers to their applications, which must be tiled and advertised at least three weeks before the meeting of court.
