Dress Goods A very sad accident occurred at -N o. 6 mine Friday, which resulted in the death of Nelson Knapp. He was scraping for William Lawson, and they were in the act of taking a "skip" off* the side of a room, when suddenly a large portion of coal, several tons, came down and slightly injured L-iwson on the legs, aud crushed Knapp very severely, from which he died before he reached home. The deceased was twenty-one years of age, a very quiet, young man. A kind word is spoken of him by all his ecquaintences. The remains were taken to Circle Hill cemetery, Punxsutawney, Monday, for interment, Rev. Clark, of Punxsutawney, officiating. A beautiful floral harp and a dove given by the young men adorned the casket. He is survived by his mother and sister of this place, his father, who resides at Houtzdale, and one sister and brother at DuBois. The following ladies attended the Sunday School Convention at Big Run Thurod iy : Misses iilla Thomas, Liuelo Jones and Margaret Evans. They represented the Congregational Sunday School. John H. Williams represented the Baptist Sunday School. Miss Grace Brownlee, of Lock Haven, who has been visiting friends here for the last eight weeks, returned to her home on Monday. Miss Brownlee made many friends while here, who are sorry to loee her from our town. Charles Fisher, formerly of Philadelphia, but late of Monaca, has secured the position of chief clerk in the Company of lice here. Mrs. John D. Davis returned homo Monday evening, from a visit in Kastern Ohio and Dunloe, Pa. Dress Goods A very sad accident occurred at -N o. 6 mine Friday, which resulted in the death of Nelson Knapp. He was scraping for William Lawson, and they were in the act of taking a "skip" off* the side of a room, when suddenly a large portion of coal, several tons, came down and slightly injured L-iwson on the legs, aud crushed Knapp very severely, from which he died before he reached home. The deceased was twenty-one years of age, a very quiet, young man. A kind word is spoken of him by all his ecquaintences. The remains were taken to Circle Hill cemetery, Punxsutawney, Monday, for interment, Rev. Clark, of Punxsutawney, officiating. A beautiful floral harp and a dove given by the young men adorned the casket. He is survived by his mother and sister of this place, his father, who resides at Houtzdale, and one sister and brother at DuBois. The following ladies attended the Sunday School Convention at Big Run Thurod iy : Misses iilla Thomas, Liuelo Jones and Margaret Evans. They represented the Congregational Sunday School. John H.
