JOHNSON BLOCK, Funeral services wero held at her homo on Monday afternoon, attended by a largo number of relatives and neighbors. Her associates in the Endeavor Soeioty sang "Asleep in Jesus!" "Swoet peace tho gift of God's lovo," and "We'll nevor say good by in Heaven." Her pastor preached the sermon from Phil. 1:21—"For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Tho burial was in Ridgemont cemetery. S. E. 8M ITH Punxsutawney, Pa., January 18, 1898. There Is no death ! Wliiit seems ho is transition. Tills life of mortal breath Is but a suburb of the life clysian, Whose portal we call death. She will be much missed in her home, in the social circle, in tho Umbo school where sickness found her last Tuesday, in tho church, Sunday school and Christian Endeavor meetings. As she livod, so she died. She desirod to trot well, for she had her own plans for coining days; but when told that her illness whs fatai and that sho could only live a short time, she readily submitted to the inevitable. She was prepared to die. Only for a moment did she shudder as she looked down into tho darkness Soon sho saw tho bright world beyond and the angel who would guide her homo. Calm ly did she say good by to her parents, brothers and sisters and bado them all to meet her in heaven. It is of Buch as she that Longfellow says: Sho departed this life at the age of 1<» years, 5 mouths and 11 days, at 3 o'clock last Sunday morning, after an illues* of only five days. So severe was her sickness, though sho made no complaint of boing ill prior to Tuesday noon, that no relief could be given by loving attention and medical skill. It is, however, cause for gratitude that her bodily sufferings did not much impair her mental faculties and she was fully conscious to tho last, calmly saying good-oy to her friends only a few moments before she ceased to breatho. Annie was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elias C. Cochran, of Boll township. Sho was much loved not only in the circle of her own family, but by hor many relatives and and acquaintances. All will agree she was a porfect favorite. Of a sunny disposition she inado others glad by her very presence and cheerfulness. On December 22, 185)5, Aunie was received into Mt Zion Lutheran church by baptism and trusted in the Savior with all her heart. The fact was well attested to her life and (tonduet. Sho was over true to her professions and faithful in all duties. What she did was done with all her might. Truly she did lovo tho Lord and all mankind. Margery Ann Cochran. J. N.
