IIKIIM'* Coin IV*Icoi Ami \ilflii-.-ini| | Vi> Taking advantage of an act of the last Legislature granting munici-palities the right to Impose certain additional taxes to Increase revenue for operating expenses, limn coun-cil nt the regular Marrh meeting on Wednesday evening went on record without a dimming vote, declaring 1 non to levy a ten percent tax on nil forms of amusement, in-cluding moving pictures, church and school activities where a charge Is made or where a contribution or donation is received for admin ion Baseball, soft ball and bowling AN included, whether played by leagues or individuals. A second ordinance would be adopted levying a tax on ptnball machines, juke boxes and1 similar devices. An annual rate of $10 Is tentatively suggested for each amusement device. Notice of the intention to adopt ordinances levying these taxes will be advertised for a period of four weeks to give the public an oppor-tunity to express views on the pro-posed taxation. Police Supervision For Hump James Williams, a property owner residing al 622 Wood street, adjoin-ing the publie dump, appeared be-! fore council and vigorously protested' the dumping of paper and other In-flammable material on the site. He branded the conditions as unbear-able and said that something must be done. Taking advantage of an act of the
last Legislature granting munici-palities
the right to Impose certain
additional taxes to Increase revenue
for operating expenses, limn coun-cil
nt the regular Marrh meeting on
Wednesday evening went on record
without a dimming vote, declaring
1 non to levy a ten percent
tax on nil forms of amusement, in-cluding
moving pictures, church and
school activities where a charge Is
made or where a contribution or
donation is received for admin ion
Baseball, soft ball and bowling AN
included, whether played by leagues
or individuals. A second ordinance
would be adopted levying a tax on
ptnball machines, juke boxes and1
similar devices. An annual rate of
$10 Is tentatively suggested for each
amusement device.
Notice of the intention to adopt
ordinances levying these taxes will
be advertised for a period of four
weeks to give the public an oppor-tunity
to express views on the pro-posed
taxation.
Police Supervision For Hump
James Williams, a property owner
residing al 622 Wood street, adjoin-ing
the publie dump, appeared be-!
fore council and vigorously protested'
the dumping of paper and other In-flammable
material on the site. He
branded the conditions as unbear-able
and said that something must
be done. He advised council that
it had promised him some re-,
lief from the conditions on several
previous occasions and unless defin-ite
action is taken immediately, he,
said the property owners Intend to
air the condition before the State

Tadeo of the fourth ward described
the dump as "a mess".
