The program opened with the crowning of Carol Lee Bergey. 12- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilnier Bergey of 418 \\ avenue, sixth grade pupil, us Queen of ihe May. She had been chosen earlier by ballot of lier fellow-pup- 11a. Joan Webster. May Queen at last year's program, placed the glitter-ing crown upon ihe new queen. Clad in flowing white, the queen was attended by a court of eight ladies-in-waiting, including Mary-belle Yoho. Joanne rngram, Nancy Weldle. Augeline CaalneUi, Adele Martinelll. June Carllne. Bernadctte Cnmerote and Lydla Hartsell. Also attired in ground-length white frocks, the attendant* carried arrrf-.sheafs of pastel-hued flowers Pastel bows adorned their hair. Six small flowr girls. Jane MarDonald, Nor-een Cardamone and Beverly Zihger strewed spring flowers in the path of the May Queen The sextette of flower girls wore long yellow frocks with J»*tei bows on their hah. The queen presided over the Mav Day exercises on a green-decora ted throne, arranged under a bower of pine boughs and adorned with tall' urns of spring flowers. Program Each of the six grades of the school presented Interesting num-bers. Garbed in a striking blue and crimson suit, ftve-year-old Richard DtClurcio served as band-leader for the ktnderv.alien rhvthm band, which scored a big hit on the pro-gram Begun in the tall it was the first time the. pre -school -agera had participated. Donning huge pap*r bags, with cut-out facial features, the fifth grade caused much merriment with their 'musk dance" A costume race is a mirthful interlude, the MX I girls competing first In dressing In! evening gowns, high-heeled slippers) and hats and then in running a race, thus encumbered. Fifth and sixth grades combined in a spirited gypsy dance, a square' dance, and pyramids. The program opened with the
crowning of Carol Lee Bergey. 12-
year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wilnier Bergey of 418 \\
avenue, sixth grade pupil, us Queen
of ihe May. She had been chosen
earlier by ballot of lier fellow-pup-
11a.
Joan Webster. May Queen at last
year's program, placed the glitter-ing
crown upon ihe new queen.
Clad in flowing white, the queen
was attended by a court of eight
ladies-in-waiting, including Mary-belle
Yoho. Joanne rngram, Nancy
Weldle. Augeline CaalneUi, Adele
Martinelll. June Carllne. Bernadctte
Cnmerote and Lydla Hartsell.
Also attired in ground-length
white frocks, the attendant* carried
arrrf-.sheafs of pastel-hued flowers
Pastel bows adorned their hair.
Six small flowr girls. Estella
Clapsaddle. Sandra Atkinson. Con-cetta
Bello. Jane MarDonald, Nor-een
Cardamone and Beverly Zihger
strewed spring flowers in the path
of the May Queen
The sextette of flower girls wore
long yellow frocks with J»*tei bows
on their hah.
The queen presided over the Mav
Day exercises on a green-decora ted
throne, arranged under a bower of
pine boughs and adorned with tall'
urns of spring flowers.
Program
Each of the six grades of the
school presented Interesting num-bers.
Garbed in a striking blue and
crimson suit, ftve-year-old Richard
DtClurcio served as band-leader
for the ktnderv.alien rhvthm band,
which scored a big hit on the pro-gram
Begun in the tall it was the
first time the. pre -school -agera had
participated.
They played -Castanets- and
"Shadows-.
The first grade offered a rollick-ing
dance. ■ Looby Loo"; the second
grade presented an allegorical
dance depleting "Oats. Peas. Beans
and Barley Growing"; the third
grade showed excellent training in
•'The Shoemaker Dance",
(Fourth grade girls presented
"Haruel and Orelel". a gav dance
and the fourth grade boys offered
one of the most impressive num-bers
of the program, an American
Indian prayer dance.
Donning huge pap*r bags, with
cut-out facial features, the fifth
grade caused much merriment with
their 'musk dance" A costume race
is a mirthful interlude, the MX I
girls competing first In dressing In!
evening gowns, high-heeled slippers)
and hats and then in running a
race, thus encumbered.
Fifth and sixth grades combined
in a spirited gypsy dance, a square'
dance, and pyramids.

Later, guests visited the
classrooms and viewed the pupils'
art exhibit, moved from the
grounds, Indoors, for the afternoon
May Day was one of the out-standing
features of Boys and Olrls
Week, being nationally observed
this week.
