CLUB DINES f-wppa OtBk Baals p Bpan. aat -bets e»i T_aF^ newly instituted noncommissioned officers' club of TroopiB, 104th cavalry, beld tts initial club dinner and election ot officers at the Jfary Ellen tea rooms, in Bald Eagle, Friday night of last week at 7.46 o'clock. A business session followed a feast of rosst obioken. The club, given over to troop welfare and comprising Tyrone and Bellwood sergeants of the national gaard, meets once monthly. The initial' meeting was votsd a big success. Tf/o commissioned officers, Captains J. L. Waite and R. E. Tallent, and eleven nnit noncommissioned officers, were pros, ent It was decided to plaoe before tha troop for unanimous vota the purchase of dress barrack cape and dress leather leggins. These are planned to add further to the appearance of the already snappy Sheridan outfit, second oldest cavalry troop ot Pennsylvania, ionnded Jaly 15,1871. Tbe dinner was a tremendous success. Following the repast, First Sergeant Warren Lather MeKinney, ranking non commissioned officer, acted as toastmaster- Responses were had from Captains Waite and Tallent, Sergeants Evans and Dompby and Corporals Gilmore and Smith. All spoke ot the work being done by the ttoop, and endorsed plan* for a still greater organization in 1929. The toastmaster, id bis thoughtful remarks, struck a most responsive chord as he spoke of past troop traditions. - "We find changed conditions in oor historic command from lto date of origin in 1871 ap until and including the present," he began. "Age played a big part in tbe paat, and wbila wa welcome the wisdom and counsel ot age, we likewise take pride in tbe part yoong men play in tbe troop ot today. Tbe silvered locks of .age bave, ia a sense, given way to the golden locks of youth, this is the ease with oar present able and capable commander." The. following officers were eleeted for the year 1929: President, Warren Lather MeKinney; vice-president, Ernest A. Evan*; treasurer, Claud E. Smith; secretary, J. Lynn Gilmore. Captains Waite and Tallent and Sergeant Joseph H. Dumphy, tbe latter a former non-commissioned of the celebrated Third regular cavalry, Fort Meyer, Vs. The newly elected olab president has long played a prominent part in troop affaire. Ha represented bis troop in France with the Pennsylvania Memorial commission in 1928, and daring tbe encampment of 1929 won tbe Shannon trophy, bigbest award of tha 62nd cavalry brigade. The following were present* Captains J. L. Waite and R. E. Tallent, Sergeants W.L. MeKinney, J. H. Dumphy, E. A. Evans, J. Frsnk Davidson and B, M. Shirk; Corporals Eugene C.
