He bad been ill for fonr days from pnsa monia, snd the attack being a severe one be conld not withstand it. fle was aged 67 years, and a son ot tbe late Bobert A. Vandevander. For tbe paat twenty years he had been engaged as a rail* roader, running Irom Allegeny to Crestline, Ohio, on.tbe Pittsburg, Fort Wayne and Chicago rail* road, and had attained to tbe position of cenductor at tbe time' of bis death. He is well known in Bellwood where be spent the early years of bis lite. He is survived by his seeond wife and t»o daughters to a former marriage, as well as by Horace A. Vande-1 vender and S. B. A petition of Antis township oitizens, members ofthe school board, pastors of churches and official church bodies, elobs and leagues, has beeu presented to County Commissioners John O. Gorsucb, Joho F. Boyer and Dae S. Brnmbaugb, praying 'for tbe setting aside of the unused portion of Clearfield street at Tipton for that purpose. It wiU be recalled tbat when Tipton was plotted, tbe land owners dedicated tor a public thoroughfare, Clearfield street, 260 feet wide. Clearfield street formed part otthe Tuckahoe turnpike, laat year taken over as a county road .The commissioners in taking over tbe road, ooly appropriated fifty feet ot Clearfield street, biseotiog the wide thoroughfare, leaving a width of 100 feet on either aids, the foil length of the street. Tbe remaining portion is what is desired for a publie park. Tbe petitions aet forth tbat if the connty dedicates the land for ass ss a pnblio park, all expeasss incident to tbe maintenance snd npkeep of tbe park shall be met by popular subscriptions.
