Woman's Club, Pire Company, Lion's Club and Mo* tartans, who would take over the maintenance and operation of the ambulanee and be responsible for the payment of all bills and the eolleotton ot charges for taking patients to the Hospital from those eble to pay and that whenever a deficit occurred the money would be raised through some means—either public subscriptions or carnivals, etc. On motion of Messrs. Hagsnbuch and Altemoa, tt was moved that the plan suggeated by the Woman'a Club be accepted and the Secretary for¬ ward a letter of appreciation to the Woman's Club expressing the Bor* ough's gratitude for the donation ef this oqulpaMnt. A committee representing resi¬ dents along Tatamy Road appeared before Council protesting against the dumping of garbage, etc. by citiaens residing within the vicinity of Walnut Street into the stream runnng through that pert of the tot»-n; that every time we had a heat-y rain all of the rubbish and garbage was swept down the atxeam and upon their properties; that they had flled complamu with the Board of Health heretofore wltheat tbs nulsanoea being abated and fbr that reason again appealed for action on the part of Town Council. The President assured the Coaualttee he would personally tabe the awtter up with the Board of Haetth and see that action would be taken promptly. The Publie Property Committee advised that a good part of the lumber used in erecting the band atand had been donated. On motion of Messrs. Korts and KauSaun It was moved that the rules be suspended and same passed flrst and second reading. Tbe roU being called Messrs. Lindenmoyer, Altemos, Korts. Kahler, Kauffman, Knauss, Hagenbuch and Behaeffer voted bi the aSnaatlve. Mr. KeUa. who waa aot in the room at the tbne, did not vote.
Mr. Lawrence Bice, repreoenting the Woman's Club, prssented to Oounctl suggestloiu for handling and operating the Ambubmoo reeeatly purchaaed by subaerlptiens and sponsored by tho Womaa's Club, provided the Borough would aeoept saoM. He stated that the eoet of saoM was |1,«VS.00 with total aub* lerlptions amounting te gl,1gg.OO: that to date insuranoe had been placed on saaM and flrst eld eaulp* ment purchaaed and minor repairs made, which left a babiance on hand of approximately 1300.00. In apeak* Ing for the Club he offered the fol* lowing suggestion: that Bogough Council accept the ambulanee en behalf of the Borough of Naaareth with the understanding that same would be housed in the Municipal Building; that a Committee ot flve be appointed, giving representation to Borough Council. Woman's Club, Pire Company, Lion's Club and Mo* tartans, who would take over the maintenance and operation of the ambulanee and be responsible for the payment of all bills and the eolleotton ot charges for taking patients to the Hospital from those eble to pay and that whenever a deficit occurred the money would be raised through some means—either public subscriptions or carnivals, etc.
On motion of Messrs. Hagsnbuch and Altemoa, tt was moved that the plan suggeated by the Woman'a Club be accepted and the Secretary for¬ ward a letter of appreciation to the Woman's Club expressing the Bor* ough's gratitude for the donation ef this oqulpaMnt.
On motion of Messrs. Altemos and Lindenmoyer, it was moved tbat the Borough of Maaaieth aeespt thto ambulance aa Borough equipment and that the Resident of CouncU appoint a eommlttee of flve In ae* oordance with the sueseation ot the Woman's Club, and further moved that upon presentation of Tlile the Secretary apply for license plates.
A committee representing resi¬ dents along Tatamy Road appeared before Council protesting against the dumping of garbage, etc. by citiaens residing within the vicinity of Walnut Street into the stream runnng through that pert of the tot»-n; that every time we had a heat-y rain all of the rubbish and garbage was swept down the atxeam and upon their properties; that they had flled complamu with the Board of Health heretofore wltheat tbs nulsanoea being abated and fbr that reason again appealed for action on the part of Town Council. The President assured the Coaualttee he would personally tabe the awtter up with the Board of Haetth and see that action would be taken promptly.
The Publie Property Committee advised that a good part of the lumber used in erecting the band atand had been donated. On motion of Messrs. Lindenmoyer and Kahler. it was moved that Borough CouncU, through its Secretary, expreaa Ita appreciation to Mr P. S. Trum¬ bower for donatlns the timber used In the erection of the band atand at the Municipal Park. .
Mr. Lindenmoyer reported that Mr. H. S. Shafer had made a sewer connection for a property owner on Proapect Street without applying for a permit to dig up the street and that any person or contractor failing to do so made him.«lf liable to a flne of I1BB.00 under the ordinance. As the BMmbers of CouncU believed this eras aa oversight. It was on motion of Igeears. Korts and Hagen¬ buch BMeed that the Secretary call Mr. Shefer's attention to the fact that the ordinance requiivd each and every one digging up streets to take out m permit and pay the nee- rsaary permit charge, to request the payment of said permit charge on presentation of bill and to give an explaaatian to Council as to why he should not be .subject to the penalty of 1100.00 flne for faQure to take out the permit
