W. M. Bennett. Jr., President of the Board, presided. The Treasurer, C P. Schnerr. pre¬ sented a report showing a balance of $47,742.41 on December 1, 1939 The receipts during the month of December were $6,850 44 and the ex¬ penditures $9,709.59, leaving a bal¬ ance of $44,883.20 on January 1, 1940. On January 1st tiie Sinking Fund contained a balance of $152,- 613.60. A report was given the Board by Tax Collector R C. Orifflth show¬ ing collections of school taxes dur¬ ing the month of December amount¬ ing to $3,439.71. Bills amounting to $2,402.46 were approved for payment and the Treasurer authorized to pay them. It was decided to make every effort by this group to interest all merchants In keeping show window lights lit every night until nine o'clock. In a lengthy discussion. It was pointed out that this movement should receive the support of all local businessmen who expect t: meet the demands of today! Naz¬ areth store windows.
