Mr. and Mrs. Roy Feh- YOUNG BANDITS SENTENCED TO PEN FOR STORE HOLD-UP Three young bandits who held up and robbed Oeorge Miller, proprietor of the general store at Bushlcill Cen¬ tre on February 21 and robbed him of $410.00 pleaded guilty before Judge McKeen and were sentenc-sd to .serve .seven to 14 years in the Eastern Penitentiary. "This is a vorv serious crime—a crime I never overlook," said Judge McKeen in imposing sentence. "I've got no sympathy nor mercy for any¬ one that uses guns and hold up citizens of our Commonwealth." In addition to tho penitentiary sen¬ tence Judge McKeen also imposed a fine of $100 and designated that the jail term be spent in separate and solitary conflnemont at hard labor. The youths wiio were sentenced are Stanley Dashuta, 23, of Easton. R. D. 1; Victor Kawalec. 24, of Newark, N. J., and Carl Zulcowski, 18, of Har¬ rison, N. J. Mr. Miller, wiio with other wit¬ nesses appeared before Judge Mc¬ Kcen, said two of the youth—Dash¬ uta j.'nd Zukowski—the former carry ing two revolvers, came into the store at 11 o'clock on that Saturday night. They forced him Into the office and made him oijen the safe and hand over the money his wife had locked up only a short time be¬ fore. George T. Kemmerer. a customer in the store at the time of the rob¬ bery, also told how ho was silenced by the menacing weapons of thc three hold up 'Kawales, he .said was at thc door and would not al¬ low him to leavei. and how he was forced into thc cellar with thc Miller family before tlie bandits fled with the money. Constable R. R. Ryan who with County Detective Goorge Ryan and Con.stable Arch Miller assisted in the capture of the trio told the Court he foinid Dashuta in a shack at Mud Run. near Sandf.-. OLD FOLKS ENJOY INTERESTING AND M- PRESSIVE SERVICE The services in the local St. John's Lutheran church on Sunday were both interesting and impressive. At the regular morning service the old¬ er peoDle of the community were the guests of the congregation. They were conveyed to and from ttVB church in automobiles furnished by the members. The service itself consisted of the regular liturgy, the singing of the old familiar hymns in which they all .joined most heartily, special mu¬ sic by thc choir and an appropriate address by the pastor.
