CHAIRMAN Republicani Name Kenneth Kmsler as Committee Leader Kenneth Kreisler, of Easton, was , elected county chairman of the Re¬ publican party of Northampton, at the annual county meeting of com¬ mitteemen and committeewomen, which was held at the Nicas restaur¬ ant in Easton on Saturday after¬ noon. Titus M. Ruch, who has been county chairman for the past nine years but who was not a candidate for re-election, was in charge of the meeting. The name of Attorney Vic¬ tor J. Abel, of Hellertown. was put up for the offlce but he declined the nomination and the election of Mr. Kressler was unanlmobs. Miss Myrtle Applebaugh. of Eas¬ ton. was re-elected vice chairman of the county committee. Following her election .she was reappointed committee secretary for the ensuing two years. Miss Applebaugh is one of the most active workers for the Republican party in the county of Northampton and has l)een employed by the county committee for the past twenty-flve years. JOHN El BECK Prank Madge, of Stockertown, Monday was sent to the Eastern pen¬ itentiary for life. The sentence was imposed by Judge McKeen. Ten days ago Madge was convicted by a jury of first degi-ee murder, the Jury fixing the penalty as life im¬ prisonment. Madge was convicted of murder¬ ing Oeorge Szoba, with a haninier, at Stockertown, on thc night of Mar¬ ch 30. After Madge struck S/.oba 30 times with a hammer he tied the dead body to a bed to create the im¬ pression the man had committed suicide. Kenneth Kreisler, of Easton, was , elected county chairman of the Re¬ publican party of Northampton, at the annual county meeting of com¬ mitteemen and committeewomen, which was held at the Nicas restaur¬ ant in Easton on Saturday after¬ noon.
Titus M. Ruch, who has been county chairman for the past nine years but who was not a candidate for re-election, was in charge of the meeting. The name of Attorney Vic¬ tor J. Abel, of Hellertown. was put up for the offlce but he declined the nomination and the election of Mr. Kressler was unanlmobs.
Miss Myrtle Applebaugh. of Eas¬ ton. was re-elected vice chairman of the county committee. Following her election .she was reappointed committee secretary for the ensuing two years. Miss Applebaugh is one of the most active workers for the Republican party in the county of Northampton and has l)een employed by the county committee for the past twenty-flve years.

Prank Madge, of Stockertown, Monday was sent to the Eastern pen¬ itentiary for life. The sentence was imposed by Judge McKeen.
Ten days ago Madge was convicted by a jury of first degi-ee murder, the Jury fixing the penalty as life im¬ prisonment.
Madge was convicted of murder¬ ing Oeorge Szoba, with a haninier, at Stockertown, on thc night of Mar¬ ch 30. After Madge struck S/.oba 30 times with a hammer he tied the dead body to a bed to create the im¬ pression the man had committed suicide.

A soclal period with refresh¬ ments being served was then enjoy¬ ed, the social committee consisting of Mrs. Lucy Remaley, Mrs. Louise Wunderly, Mrs. Carrie Barrall, Mrs. Annie Kratz and Mrs. EUa Meyers. The district meeting prize awarded to Mrs. Agnes Bachman of Allentown.
