Terry Smith) Bryn Mawr A.B. 189^; A.M. 190*f, founded the Ethel Walker School. «. 1895 Gertrude S. Ely organized Junior League in Philadelphia - Director of Women's Bureau of the YMCA in France in World War I - Chairman of Women's Division of W.P.A. in Pennsylvania in 1932, worked for UNICEF on national, state and city committees - Dedicated to improvement of race relations - Service with Urban League and Mercy Douglass Hospital Philadelphia Gimbel award for 1962. Honorary Chairman 75th Anniversary Committee. 4|f\J ^-1897 Lydia Gould Weld - first woman to graduate from Engineering Department of M.I.T. Worked at Newport News Shipbuilding Company. 1900 Margaret Fay Mobley (Mrs. Thomas Mobley, Jr.) organized and was President of the Massachusetts Federation of Garden Clubs, acting President of the National Council of State Garden Clubs. 1902 Jessie Thomas Bennett (Mrs. Z. Piatt Bennett), Bryn Mawr A.B. 1907- Well-known as breeder and exhibitor of bull terriers. Her Coolyn Hill Kennels internationally famous. Wrote a delightful book, The Dogs of Coolyn Hill. ■ r.i.i 11 ■iinui .1 !■ 1 j. 11 mi ifl aw^——.^■M. 1903 Marie Antoinette Cannon, Bryn Mawr A.B. 1907 - organized the American Association of Medical Social Workers - 1921 - 19^5 on faculty of New York School of Social Work. 19^8-1952 consultant to New York office of the Commonwealth's Department of Labor. 1907 Fannie Pitcairn Frackelton (Mrs. David W.) in 1961 received the Distinguished Service Award from the Cleveland YWCA, honoring kk years of work on committees and in executive positions. She also has been active on the boards of three hospitals and a variety of other organizations. 7 1908 Helen Taft Manning (Mrs. Frederick Johnson Manning) A.B., Bryn Mawr, 1915; A.M. Yale, 191b; Ph.D. 192^. Has served Bryn Mawr College as Dean, Acting President, and Chairman of the Department of History. First woman appointed to the board of the American Historical Society. In i960 honored as a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania. Author of The Revolt of French Canada (1962). 1913 Helen Harris, Executive Director of United Neighborhood Houses of New York, federation of 50 settlements and neighborhood centers. Before this she had a distinguished career in teaching dramatics and in settlement work. From 1938 to 19^2 she directed the National Administration for New York and Long Island. She worked with UNRRA in China 19^+6-19^7. Continued.••.,
