SCHOOL BONDS ON SALE SATURDAY 130 FOUR PER CENT. HERSHEY NEED OF ORGANIZATION AND PRACTICE IN HANDLING AP-PARATUS IS DISCUSSED Oh Tuesday evening at the Hershey Dining room one . hundred and three persons sat down with Mr. M. S. Her-shey to an elaborate banquet .that he tendered to the members of the Her-shey Volunteer Fire company with their wives. The dining room and the tables had been beautifully decor-ated and arranged under the careful idirection of Caterer E. J. Krause. Palms and other large potted plants were placed at intervals around the room and .one corner was completely filled with them suggesting a garden effect. The tables were arranged in horse shoe shape with a color scheme in red and white- with potted prim-roses^ Japanese cherry blossoms, pink and white carnations, and asparagus fern over a strip of pink crepe paper that stretched down through the cen-ter of the tables. The Hershey orchestra consisting of twelve pieces furnished music during the banquet and the dance that follow-ed. With the opening selection the guests -assembled marched into the dining room and chose their places at the tablesr*' While the music con-tinued the rajinquet was served as follows: V' Iced Grape fruit Maraschino Cherries Celery v ' ¦- Olives Pickles Spring Radishes Baked Shad Maitre D'Hotel Sauce Broiled Shad Roe Bermuda Potatoes Hollandaise Sauce New Asparagus Tips on Toast Cherry Sherbet . B. Snavely took the floor in the capacity of toastmaster and in turn introduced the following speakers who each re-sponded with remarks suggestive of improvement in the efficiency of the fire company and of the town: W. C. Brinker, G. J. Eppley, C. V. Glynn, Wm. F. R: Murrie, Dr. M. L. Hershey, E. F, Hershey, M. S. Hershey and S. D. Clark. E. M. Hershey was called upon but it had been necessary for him to leave shortly after the speak-ing begun. W. C. A. of or-ganizing a mixed chorus. There is good material available to make a chorus of possibly - .twenty-five or thirty voices. Such-a body of singers organized and under .able leadership would be invaluable to the town for there are many occasions when a body of singers is needed to lead in singing and to render special . productions. Director Feese who has proved "him-self such an able Reader in the band, and orchestra is deeply interested in the proposed organization and will-ing to take up the leadership of it. < ¦; The new organization would not necessarily mean the doing away with the Y. M. C. A. glee club as it is or-ganized at present. It could still be maintained "within the chorus and a similar club could likely be formed for the ladies. These clubs would add to the variety of programs that could be rendered by the chorus. A meeting will likely be held during the next Week to consider the new organiza-tion. " •_ !*" " IT WILL BE HELD IN THE HER SHEY PARK PAVILION ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 15TH On Wednesday evening, May loth, there will be a "May Hop" at the Hershey Park Pavilion. Great preparations have been made to make this affair a huge success. The pavil-ion will be gaily decorated with flow-ers, . flags and bunting. The music will be "great,". as Prof.. Feese has prepared a program of popular airs, and the orchestra will play these numbers with a swing and dash that will by far surpass all their previous 'efforts. There will be several fea-tures, consisting of a Grand March, a Paul Jones and a Moonlight Waltz (with a moon). A carnation will be presented to every lady attending the hop. Admission will be 20c for gentlemen, and 10c for ladies. The program will be as follows: Grand March.5 Two-Step, "Oh You Beautiful Doll:" Waltz, "Swaying Harmony." THE DATE OF THE SOCIAL FOR THE HERSHEY PUBLIC EBRARY Will Be Held at the Y. W. C. A ^^m^^ «« In the interest of the Hershey Pub-lic' Library, May 13 has been chosen as the date for what has been termed a book social. The arrangements for the social are being made by a com-mittee apointed from the two Christ-ian associations and will be held in the Y. W. C. A. gymnasium. The social is to be for the general public, and each person that attends to requested to bring a book. The books that are thus collected will be used as the start for a permanent public library. : The choice - of book that each one brings ^ will be left to the individual. . Care shquld be taken, however, in the selection of them, so that the books gathered may such as will make a usable library. The best of the newer fiction and older stand-ard works will make desirable books for the collection. The books are to be_ brought on the evening .of the social. The entertainment that is being planned for the evening promises to be the most original and entertaining performance that has been presented in Hershey all winter. It will be a mock trial. A number of the most prominent and best known men in Hershey are working up the leading parts in the trial. The crime, the criminal and the testimony of the witnesses will furnish such an even-ing full, of fun that no one will dare to miss the social. Fuller particulars regarding the parts and those who are to play them will be given next week../ Every one is invited to be present.
