About four months ago the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company purchased a bell. This bell was to do wonders. It was supposed to put new life into the fire organization; to sound alarms for fires, and to.do all manner of wonderful things. The bell arrived and ever since has been placed in a secure and secluded spot in the Hose House of the 'fire,company.' At the last meeting of the company, which was held last Tuesday even-ing, it was reported that the few members that attended thought so kindly toward this belli that they procured a duster and dusted the dust from its dusted shelf. This is no dust yarn. After doing this benevolent act , they left it—and if you don 't believe it , why go and see for yourself. It is still there , and from all indications it will remain there for some time to come. It is claimed that the Fire Company is going to awaken from its Rip Van Winkle slumber. Let her ri p. Hershey Briefs A Utile About You, About Your Neighbor * and Things in General Mr. Corbett Arnold, the Y. M. C. A. physical instructor,.left for Silver-Bay , on Lake George, New York, on Thurs-day. Mr. Arnold will attend the Y. M. C. A; training school at that place, finishing his course of study. He will return on Labor Day. Mr. :Ed. Cassady is spending several days in Atlantic City. The Hershey Farm Company will have ''some" hay this year, having just fin-ished housing 600 four-horse loads. Mr. C. S. Gee, of Wooster, Ohio,, has joined our ranks. Mr. Gee will act i» the capacity of the Y. M. C. A. general secretary and will also put much of his time in writing "good stuff" for the Pkess. ¦ . . ' . ' • - Mr. Curly Maugans took a jaunt to Highspire and Harrisburg on Sunday, and on Monday evening he gave us the horse-laugh. . Prof. Fisher and wife were visitors in Rockville on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Carter, of Dayton, Ohio, are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Jos. Hills. '¦- ¦• • ¦ We have another addition to the Hershey Park Zoo. A family of rac-coons. Mr. Lebkicher purchasing same on Wednesday. Rev. O. G. Romig made a trip, by team, to Lyonsville, Syner .and GraveJ Hill on Tuesday. (Continued on page 16\ . ' V Mr. . arid Mrs. M. S.' Hei-shey have returned from Europe, landing in New York on Monday morning. Mr. Her-shey landing in Hershey on Monday af-ternoon. Since his return everybody is again ' on the job" and things have taken on few life. The work of . establishing the H< rshey Industrial School will now pro-teed on a big scale. Estimates and plans are out for the (rection of fifty double dwelling houses, v.hkh will be erected by spring. These will be rented at low monthly rates, and will give homes for at least one hundred more families. j .
