Find It Fast 10Th. 'YELLOW PAGES' Salute Scholastic And Sports Ability High regard for its youth population has long been traditional in this community, and justifiably so. Outstand-ing accomplishments in many fields are consistent occur-rence among the Hershey area's young people. In two consecutive weeks, the Hershey Rotary Club has recognized some of these achievements. Scholastic excellence was saluted at this week's Rotary Club luncheon meeting on Monday when Carl Schiller and Larry Witmer, Hershey High School seniors, were honored for having qualified in the National Merit Scholar-ship competition. Students qualifying in the challenging test are among the "upper half of one per cent" of the nation's five per cent who are eligible to take the scholarship test, accord-ing to George D. Lange, Her-shey High School principal who introduced the two sen-iors. Football achievements of Hershey men who are now (Continued ea Page Three) Hershey Hospital Births Set Mark Babies — as always — were popular here in 1957. Only more so. The Hershey Hospital re-ported that a total of 508 of the little tykes were born there during the past year, setting a new record. Miss Catherine Krasovic. R.N., of the hospital staff, pointed out that the 1957 babies outnumbered the pre-vious record of 503 set in 1953. Four hundred and eighty-four arrived at Hershey Hospital in 1956, and 442 the year before that. So 1957 showed an abrupt in-crease of 24 over its preced-ing year, and brought about an upturn of 66 over the number born in 1955. The hospital statistics an-nounced last Thursday also showed that the 1957-model boy babies hold an edge on the girl babies — 263 to 245. Busiest month for the Her-shey Hospital's maternity de-partment last year was Sep-tember, when 66 youngsters arrived to take their places in , the • bassinets. September's rush came immediately after 51 babies were born in Au-gust, second busiest month. The short month of February was third in birthday popular-ity, when 48 births were list-ed. The Hershey Hospital births by months during 1957. January.— boys 17, girls 19, total 36; February — boys 29, girls 19, total 48; March — boys 18, girls 15, total 33; April — boys 20, girls 23, total 43; May—boys 19, girls 18, total 37; June — boys 17, girls 16, total 33.
