- HERSHEY :NEWS Vol. 6 HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA, NOVEMBER 20, 1958 No. 47 CHRISTMAS SEASON DECORATIONS at the Hershey Chocolate Corporation are being installed in preparation for "light-up time" On Thanksgiving Day evening. In photo above, George Gish (left) and Harold Hamilton mount ladders to place the wiring on the ivy-covered walls while — in picture below — Kent Boyer, Richard Williard and Foreman Joseph Hershey complete a wreath in the shop as the Choco-late Corporation electricians near the end of their preparations. , The display, which annually attracts the eyes of many visitors as well as local residents, this year will feature large, lighted "swinging" bells — three to each of the three panels of the exterior walls. Timed circuits of the bells' wiring will give the illusion of swinging. Nearly 1600 lamps will go into the holiday display. • School's Glee Club Keeps Busy With Concert Schedule The current edition 'of the Milton Hershey School Glee Club is seriously into the busi-ness of maintaining the wide renown it has acquired over the years, with perhaps an added laurel or two to its growing fame. Already this year the young • singers have had nine con-cert appearances. The variety of the occasions demonstrates the versatility which is one of the earmarks of the club. They have appeared at ban-quets, churches, conventions and professional conferences throughout Central Pennsyl-vania — among them the re-gional meeting of state educa-tors and the worldwide con-ference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, both in Harrisburg. They also sang during the recent state-wide convention of Student Councils, when the Hershey Junior College was host. Next Sunday will, find the boys at Olivet Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, and December will bring four more public appearances, in addition to their usual corn- , munity caroling. Their schedule is already nearly completed well into the Spring of 1959, with only a few open dates remaining. Some requests are on file for, 1959-60. Director of the 40-voice or-ganization is Virgil L. Alex-ander, whose untiring de-mand for musical excellence and sensitive interpretation are largely responsible for the present enviable status of the glee club. Alexander insists that the •(Continued ea Page Tea) Thanksgiving religious ob-servance will be held next Thursday morning in Fish-burn Evangelical United Brethren Church at nine o'clock, it was announced this week by the Hershey Minis-terial Association. The union service is held each year under the sponsor-ship of the Ministerial Asso-ciation. The general public is invited to attend. Presiding at the special service of thanksgiving will be the Rev. Dr. J. R. MacDon-ald, pastor of the host church. The Rev. William Sheldon Blair, pastor of Derry Presby-terian Church, will deliver the Thanksgiving Day sermon. Also taking part in the ob-servance will be the Rev. Ker-mit L. Lloyd, vicar of All Saints Episcopal Church, who will offer the prayer, and the Thanksgiving -- 1958 \ Plan For Community Thanksgiving Service The annual community Rev. Glenn Rader, pastor of the Church of the Redeemer, United Church of Christ, who will give the Scripture read-ing. The responsive reading will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas W. Guinivan, pastor of the First Evangelical Unit-ed Brethren Church. Music for the occasion will be presented by the choir of Fishburn Church, under the direction of Jay Heisey, chor-ister. Mrs. Paul Heisey will serve as organist. The offering will be used by the Ministerial Association for its community work pro-gram. Dr. MacDonald is presi-dent of the Ministerium.
