Residents Reminded Of Siren Warning System ALWAYS FASCINATING IS THE OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS TREE and yard at the Hershey Museum, shown here being arranged for the season by (from left) Carlton Hoffer, Ned Light and Mrs. Richard Light. Only the tree itself is new — all decorations, yard figures and other articles, toys and games are relics of yesteryear. Mrs. Light and her aides are shown as they placed an antique toy train under the tree. The train, propelled by steam and fueled with alcohol, is still operating aft-er 73 years. The tree is decorated with popcorn and cranberry streamers, home made snow and paper and glass balls. The yard set contains old cast metal animals and people, and around the train track are various houses, a church, railroad station, and a farm-house with barn and fence. The items in the display were donated to the Museum by - a number of area residents. Music Festival Is Christmas Season Event The story of Christmas was told in music in memdrable fashion here on Monday eve-ning when the music depart-ment students of the Derry Township Schools presented their annual Christmas Music Festival in the Hershey Com-munity Theatre. Miss Jane I. Emel, Paul G. Fisher and Elwyn F. Spangler directed the music organiza-tions of Hershey Junior Col-lege and Hershey High School in the excellently arranged program. The young musicians and vocalists gave pleasing per-formances in all phases of the festival, and the presentation was well received by the large audience. The musical Christ-mas tribute was conducted from a stage well and imagin-atively arranged with appro-priate scenery, and with effec-tive costuming. One of the highlights of the music festival was the ap-pearance of Marie Mellman Naugle, well known concert harpist, with the 'Hershey High School Chorus in "A Ceremony of Carols" by Ben-jamin Britten, a rn odern treatment in medieval style. The evening of Christmas music opened with an organ prelude by Karl Eby Moyer, and the chorus processional, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." The combined choruses Of Hershey Junior College and Hershey High School joined effectively to present Bach's "0 Rejoice, Ye Christians, Loudly," and "Go Tell It on the Mountain." Greetings on behalf of the schools were brought by George D.- Lange, high school principal. Following the words of wel-come, the Junior College Chorus sang "On That Christ-mas Morn," "The Holy and the Ivy," and "The Angel's Song," with JoAnn Johnson, violinist, and Gretchen Aungst, cellist. The String Ensemble ap-peared in the presentation of "Variations on a Polish Carol," by Ades, "What Child Is This?" "Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella," with Marena Tighe as soloist, and the traditional favorite, "Si-lent Night." Male voices then took over as the Boys' Quartet sang Hoggart's "Three Christmas Carols." • The High School Chorus, di-rected by Elwyn Spangler, presented Britten's "A Cere-mony of Carols," .with Marie Mellman Naugle, concert harpist, as guest soloist. A Brass Ensemble gave its instrumental interpretation .of Holmes' "A Christmas Sere-nade," followed by a carol sing. The many instruments of the High School Orchestra then blended to p r -e sent "Three Songs for Christmas", the popular "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town", and Mous-sorgsky's "The Great Gate of Kiev," and the Girls' En-semble appeared in Irving Berlin's .mode rn favorite, "W hit e Christmas," and "Gesu Bambino". The finale was the famous "Hallelujah Chorus," by Han-del. The participating organiza-tions and their directors were the Hershey Junior College Chorus, Paul G. Fisher; Her-shey High School Girls' Chorus, Paul G. Fisher, Her-shey High School Chorus, El-aCentlimi at Page Fier) Fire company and Civil Defense officials this week issued a remind-er concerning the siren signal sys-tem for Derry Township. In order to eliminate confusion, it was pointed, out that the follow-ing system of signals is in effect here: Six "rounds"of the sirens — means a fire. One "round" — means it. is 12 Vclock (noon) on Saturday. (The one "round" signal also 'signifies the time of fire company meetings each month.) ANY.
