Ilinnich, an employee of the Her-shey Chocolate Corporation, also serves in Scouting as a neighborhood commis-sioner. To Hold Model Election Hershey's over-21 popula- • tion will be going to the polls • on November 6. But by that - time Election Day will be over for the students of Her-shey Junior College. The J-C collegians will hold - a model Presidential election . on November 5, when the members of the student body will "v,ote" for their own choices for President, • Vice President and United States Senator. The model election will be run off as an exercise in the science of gov-ernment. Conducting the project are the junior college members of - the Inter-Collegiate Confer-ence on Government, with Prof. William Schmehl as ad-visor. Also cooperating in the "election" is the Hershey Junior College newspaper, Voting Machines For Derry Township? The question of whether voting machines should be provided for the voters of Derry Township for use in fu-ture elections will be Ans-wered on November 6 when the local residents go to the polls in the general election. The voting machine ques-tion will appear on the local ballots as a special item. The proposed change in voting procedure from the paper bal-lot to machines requires the approval of the people to put it into effect. Should the majority of the the Format. The students will register for the "election" during the three-day period of October 31 through November 2. voters approve the use of vot-ing machines here, the ma-chines will be purchased by the county. Election officials said the machines are sup-plied in about a year after re-ceiving the voters' approval. Prior to putting them into operation, demonstrations are held in the various voting districts adopting them in or-der to thoroughly acquaint the voters with the method of casting a ballot by machine. Chief benefits from the use of voting machines, election officials pointed out, are the speed with which the results can be compiled when the polls close and the accuracy with which the tabulations are made. To Conduct Religious Survey A religious survey of the Hershey area, in which fami-lies will be asked their church affiliations or preferences, will be conducted on the after-noon of Sunday, November 4, by volunteer workers from various local churches. The survey is being sponsored by the Hershey Ministerium, and each participating church group will furnish twenty-five "census takers" for the proj-ect. The survey will be conduct-ed in Hershey proper and the areas of Palmdale, Swatara Station, Mountain View, Un-ion Deposit, and Sand Beach. Rev. Kermit L. Lloyd, chairman of the Minister-ium's project, said that churches supplying census takers are First Evangelical United Brethren Church, Der-ry Presbyterian Church, Spring Creek Church of the Brethren, Holy Trinity Lu-theran Church, Fishburn and Union Deposit Evangelical United Brethren Churches and All Saints Episcopal Church. Faul reported that local business and industrial people have-been very generous in furnishing prizes for the community event. The Halloween chairman urged the coin-munity at large to "follow through" in widespread partici-pation in the parade in order to help insure its success. The committee in charge of planning also requested householders living along the parade route to turn on their porch and other outside lights during parade time next Wed-nesday evening.
