Title | Letter from Bobby Johnston to Warren [Letter 278] |
Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | 217 April 4 - 9:15 P.M. Wednesday My Dearest Darling: Your Special did me so much good last night. I'm still feeling the effects. I gave Wendy some warm milk before I went to bed and she slept soundly til 9:00 this morning. After I got into bed, I stayed awake quite awhile thinking about and loving you. Sweety, I do love being your wife. The inflammation on Wendy's arm has subsided and she seemed quite well and happy all day. This morning we left the negatives for you and the pictures will be ready on Friday. Tomorrow I'm mailing you two rolls of 35 mm film and another presink from Wendy. Made an appointment to see Mrs. Wood, principal of Sunset School tomorrow morning at 11:00. Spoke to her over the phone, and she sounded very pleasant.[pg 2] This afternoon Gerry and Dickie stopped by for us and we walked downtown together. At the Post Office there were letters for both of us. I was delighted to get the next three pictures - think the two of you are very good - like the one in the Operations Group best - you look wonderful - I love to see you smile sweety - got the message in the serious one, of you alone, and I'll try to send one back real soon. Its so good to see pictures of people you have been writing about. The boys (Super, Kim, and Andy) look as if they are full of fun. For Wendy's special picture - will you try next time to have a picture of yourself taken, with a little girl about her age - she'll love to look at it later on. I'm going to get a small square album, for all the pictures you send - don't you think that is a good idea? No, honey the baseball glove isn't in the Val Pack - guess we must [pg 3] have packed it in the trunk we sent out to M and F. In the April 1945 National Geographic there is a good article, well illustrated about the Marianas, with emphasis on Tinian by Robert Moore. Gerry is sending it to Rheinie when I return it to her tomorrow. The pay line is mentioned and there is a picture of one of the Korean men counting his money. There are lovely color plates too. It begins to look as if we won't be able to move til next Fall, so I'm putting in some more flowers to have over the summer. This afternoon I planted a dozen more seedlings in the garden. Most of the plants I put in last October are doing very well. My watch has gone on the blink, and I'm wearing yours til I can [pg 4] send mine to New York to be fixed. I think Wendy said her first word this morning, but I'm not quite sure; so it isn't official - We stopped by to see Bev, who gave her a graham cracker, and I think Wendy said cookie - We'll have to wait, and see if she says it again. Am going to tackle our bills and check book now. All my love darling, every bit. Bobby 4/1944 Moved up to the apartment in two taxis late this afternoon - Bedroom and bath were ready, but nothing else - Dinner at Butler Hall. |
