Title | Letter from Warren Johnston to Bobby [Letter 76] |
Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | XXIX Henry, at breakfast this morning, sends you his best Monday 23 October 11 am Hi Sweetie, Just a little note to liven up my last (a serious) letter, which I see is still to go out- I'm so proud of my daughter and the way she demeaned herself (behaved is much too undignified a word) our Dr. [Lusignan's?] Mother and Father have written that they are sending me a watch - self-winding, waterproof and everything. Sounds much better than the temporary expedient I have now, even tho it does keep good time. I should have no trouble selling it. Asked Tim [M?] to send you a copy of an amusing little booklet he got in town so don't be surprised if you see his return address on a small package - But he may not be able to get another, or may substitute other littercher, so don't count on it. (Just jokes in island dialects) Awfully glad I got M and F. an anniversary present. But send yours too if you've already bought it, or perhaps anyhow. Saw a good movie last night, tho it petered out a little toward the end - “The Eve of St. Mark.” Some very funny character parts in it. I think you’d enjoy it if you left at the part where they are survivors, still fighting, on the Philippines. It was such a pertinent movie to the audience here and had them all howling with laughter. Gotta go now. A [b?] hug to little sweetie and lots and lots of love to both of you Warren |
