Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | 83 Monday Dec. 4 - 8:15 P.M. My dearest darling: This has been a really full day, and I'm pleasantly tired tonight. Have made great strides with Wendy's sunsuit - The bonnet is all finished, the panties half done - and the dress basted and pinned. It looks precious, and I can hardly wait to get it all finished. Speaking of bonnets - wish you could see the pink silk one Wendy wore out - it just fits on the top of her head. No matter, I've tucked it away to wait for our next sprout - or even the one after that- Played in the garden, but there is still lots of be done. This afternoon after Wendy and I made our trip to town - we came back home to find Keeo, and her 3 yr. old friend Toni watching to see Wendy - so - in they came, and Wendy was quite the center of attention while Mummy blew noses (they’re all getting over colds!) ‘I've gotta go potty’ or ‘I've gotta go chair-chair’ - will be an old hand by the time Wendy gets to that stage. Took some pictures - and do hope they come out. I'm still reading ‘Still Time to Die’ - it's [slow?] because so depressing - everyone I've talked to about it agrees. Forgot to tell you Mother's birthday [pg 2] is Dec. 29th in case you have time to write her note. Will wire flowers from the three of us at any rate. How bout hurrying those pyjamas along? The pair I have is rapidly wearing out. Wendy's cold is in the last heavy drying up stage - Poor little sweetie she's swallowed so much mucous - tonight it made her sick, but I'm glad she got rid of it. She was frightened for awhile - but I turned the lights out, wrapped her up, and sat in the big chair til she calmed down then she finished her battle and dropped off to sleep. Will be glad when this is all over - hope she doesn't get a cold again for a long time. Only about 485 days if I've counted right - but it's still a long time no matter which way you look at it - All my love darling every bit - Bobby 4/42 Studied Japanese lesson - lunch in Waffle Wing - down to the village to visit [?] and Ed, Todd and Ben Brown - Special Delivery from Memphis 4/43 Reach N.Y. at 9:30, Father met us and took us to [Schraffts?] for breakfast. Taxi to Flushing - Much talking with Mother and phoning - lunch - sleep - dinner - Robbins |
