Title | Letter from Bobby Johnston to Warren [Letter 78] |
Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | 29- Friday Evening [10/13] 7:45 P.M. My dearest darling: Have just finished rereading your last four letters with tears running down my face, because I just couldn't help it - letters are such a very thin, but real line to hold on to, when what I really want so much to have back is you. Wendy and I went downtown this afternoon, and spent an hour exploring some side streets. Stopped a the florist, am getting a flower garden started out back, and ordered some plantlets to be delivered tomorrow evening. Think I will get some plants to put out on the patio too. When we came home I wrote to grandfather, Aunt Beth and Jean.. Tonight I hope to get some more letters answered and finish Wendy's book to date. The log for last year is a series of blank pages, and I guess you remember why. Tomorrow afternoon I hope to [pg 2] pick up our photographs, which I'll get out Monday. We ordered four more tin boxes to have in reserve in case the supply dwindled. Wendy still attracts an audience whenever we go out. I'm sure she gets more cunning each day. Today while we were out walking I talked to her, and she laughed right back. Most of the time I keep her on her tummy - she holds her head up, and turns it from side to side so as to be sure to see everything. Each night before she goes to sleep, I sing Rock-a-bye baby and hold her to the window to throw a kiss to you. She is a daughter to be proud of darling, and I'm sure the best is yet to come. You are my love- Bobby |
