Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | Wednesday Morning [6/14/44] Darling:- We do have a most precious sprout. She has cried only twice since coming home, and does everything just as she's supposed to. Was just in the nursery to see her, and she's fast asleep, both arms flung over her head - Last night she slept through, except for a pants change and drink of water at 1:00. This morning she had her orange juice mixture out of her silver mug with the help of your baby spoon, and didn't fuss a bit! Miss Fuuke says she is exceptionally good [pg 2] in all respects, and when she bathed her this morning remarked that she had an unusually fine little body and I believe her - Sweety, you couldn't have given us a more perfect child. The announcements arrived this morning, and I'm going to start in on them this afternoon. Miss Fuuke is going to get the stamps, when she goes out to do the marketing - Better bring this along - ‘cause I have a feeling we’re just going to have enough. Aunt Beth phoned this morning - she is leaving for Vermont tomorrow, and will be back the end of the month- 7:30 Wendy is tucked in for the night - bassinette snug against our [pg 3] bed. She slept all afternoon and drank her whole bottle tonight - There is so little to do for her, that I like to do it myself except for washing, mixing formula and heating bottles. Miss Fuuke does all the cooking, marketing and cleaning. She brings me breakfast and paper in bed, and it's such a luxurious feeling with pretty nighties and bed jackets, and Wendy snug as a [chippen?] beside me. (Chippen[?] ‘cause she's a chip off the ol block!) This has been a gray day - hope all the rain comes before this week-end. Have had WQXR on all day - addressed thirty announcements this afternoon and mailed them - also slept for two hours. [pg 4] I really do feel so well - Tonight I will take a shower and write a letter to grandfather - then to bed early ‘cause Wendy works like a little alarm clock. Think the day are going to slip by now 'til you are home again - Just think the three of us together - This separation has taught me many things darling, and I hope in the long run will make me a better wife for you, and [?] mother for Wendy- Wishing so I could be with you tonight- You have all our love- Bobby |
