Title | Letter from Bobby Johnston to Warren [Letter 34] |
Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | Thursday Evening [6/15/44] Warren my dearest:- What a precious [squidgen?] we have darling - Betty brought the scales over this morning, and we weighed Wendy - She has gained 5 ½ oz. since Tuesday. She does eat prodigiously, and looks so cunning and round. She hardly cries, and then there is always a good reason. This afternoon the carriage arrived and I am delighted with it. We hope with all the news that's breaking, you won't be [pg 2] prevented from coming home to us this week-end. Today has been rainy, and I have my fingers crossed for a nice, warm, sunny Sunday. Tomorrow I am going out if it's a nice day, and will try to get a lock and chain for the buggy. Had a letter from Muz this morning. She and Peg expect to come down on Saturday and will stop by to see us. Am already looking forward to ‘dressing up’ Wendy for the occasion in one of her dresses and pink silk jacket - We've mailed out 80 announcements - all your list and mine plus a few for Mother and Father Carpen. I did them, darling, because you must have [pg 3] as much time as possible with Wendy. She is going to love having you hold her and giving her the [‘b?’] bottle. Tonight I played with her half an hour before dinner - We kicked on tummy and back, explored the apartment and sand Rock-a-bye Wendy and Three Cheers for Pooh. She looked so cunning in her blue wrapper, and all done up in a pink blanket which just matches her cheeks. Please thank Mrs. Kern for us both for the card we received this morning. Will write thank you notes to date tomorrow morning. Received Tuesday's special last [pg 4] night just before going to bed, and am eagerly anticipating a letter tomorrow morning- Put my maternity clothes away this afternoon for future use, and can hardly wait to get dressed up and go out with you again - Til Saturday night when you can really collect - all my love - Bobby |
