Title | Letter from Bobby Johnston to Warren [Letter 74] |
Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | 25- Wednesday [10/11] 5:45 My darling:- This probably won't be a long letter, because I blistered my thumb turning off the heater, and it's sort of hard to write. No mail from you today - Wendy and I mailed you a package - no. 5, so be watching for them. The captain's wife Marjorie Pagitt stopped by with Geoffrey this afternoon. You would have loved seeing the two babies together. They started at each other for quite awhile, and then Wendy grinned very coquettishly, and they started to jabber away. I like Marjorie - she is perhaps a bit older than me - comes from Denver. Her husband, Merle, is in public relations in France. He was home on leave after a year the same time you were. She is taking Geoffrey to Dr. [Lusiguan?] tomorrow, and Wendy and I are going along. Besides the visit our day has been uneventful. We were downtown [pg 2] twice - had a note from Aunt Beth - I'm way behind on the correspondence. Stopped by to see Bev for a minute - did a big washing - seems to get bigger every day. Wendy wiggles off the blanket now, and I'm just as likely to find her on the rug. So she is quite grubby by bath time. Honey, have you thought of advertising in the Honolulu paper for a camera? You might ask Grandfather's friend too. Must put Wendy in the tub now. Darling:- I'm so tired - can't even think straight. It's quite cold tonight and a have a cheerful blaze in the fireplace. Have read some 75 pages in ‘The Tempering of Russia’ and am enjoying it. Sweety, I want so much to have back - there are so many things I miss - like a good spontaneous hug, and curling up against you to sleep - I try to pretend, but it doesn't help much. Please come safely back, and soon- We send you all our love - Bobby |
