| Description | 376 Friday 16 November 1945 noon Dearly Beloved Let's make that trip again as soon as we can, but instead of returning late at night, stay over perhaps at the Commander - we'll go out to dinner at the Statler (that was it, wasn't it?) I remember the place - i.e., location in the city - and that curious raised dance floor; it seems to me that it wasn't anything exceptional apart from its special connotations for us, and they immortalize it. Well, I have a date for tonight's party - Red Cross girl - but don't really look forward to it. I just want to get home. It begins to look as though it will be a close race for Christmas. The man who is evidently to be my relief is leaving San Francisco with a III priority on [?] 22-24, which means that he'll get here about Nov. 26-28. Probably I'll be [pg 2] released within a week or his arrival; that'll give me just 3 weeks to get home in, and it took Arthur Smith 6 (but 10 days of that was being held up in San Francisco) There's a slight chance, but the probabilities are that I'll be home within a couple of weeks after. I'll keep you posted of course. Thanks for the information about separation - I'll answer your recent letters soon. I love you, darling, and miss you awfully - life without you is just sort of meaningless, and it's not doing me any good. But it won't be long now. Warren |
