Description | U.S. Naval Military Govt Unit Navy #3247 F.P.O., San Francisco Sunday 21 October 1945 9:30 pm Muz darling, So good to hear from you and to know that you are enjoying your vacation at Highlands - I'm glad you like the coasters and have a use for them - thank you for your birthday wish: yes, isn't it amazing that you should have a son 32 years old! My age had not particularly occurred to me until your comment awakened that mysterious feeling we sometimes have about such things. Well, for my part, it's the nicest age I've attained to yet. (Recently I had a date for an officers’ party, [pg 2] she was not unperceiving, but at the end of the evening on the occasion of some remarks about how long we had each been married, etc., she said something to the effect that such and such was strange considering that I must be a couple of years younger than she. “How old are you?” I asked her. - “Twenty-eight.” Just as at twenty I commonly passed for several years old, I now commonly pass for as much as six years younger than I am. In that, Sweetie, I must take after you. When I left home I had one gray hair which Bobby kept pulling out (against my will) every time it grew in. Now I have about four and shall put up a fight to keep them. Yes, we are looking forward to a stop in Memphis on our way [pg 3] East. It's too early to plan any details now but if we can make it at all we'll plan to stay at least 3 or 4 days. It will be such fun to see you and to bring WENDY. It makes me so happy to know how you feel about Bobby, and she about you. Thanks for Jean's address - I'll try to write her soon. I am as always eager to know about how she is making out and whether she is growing happier and more settled, as she seemed to be when we last saw her - Doug, too: what's he doing now? Give them both my fondest greetings and, since it can be done via you, a big hug. Regards to Dad, and my affectionate respects to Mama. Your loving Warren |
