Title | Letter from Warren Johnston to Bobby [Letter 31] |
Subject | Correspondence; World War, 1939-1945.; World War, 1939-1945--Women. |
Description | 2632 Woodley Place 10:15 pm. 5/16 Darling- Just time for a quickie - after phoning you at the drugstore a block or so away I came home and at long last copied off my old address book - remind me to copy from yours on Sunday what few I'm lacking (Doug's, Hy [Keeb?], Jeans, etc.) - also wrote a card to Betty (mentioned announcements and said we’d write about it) and addressed an envelope to Scottie so that I’d remember to write Thursday. [When?] I intend to spend the evening finishing the job of cleaning up old loose ends, answering or disposing of those several months old letters I've been carrying around, etc. Tomorrow night, of course, I'm going to Lucilles. I don't think you know or know of the men in the Feb. group who were in this afternoon's softball game - Marshall Greene, Jake Jacobson and Roy - (?); Art English is around with them but I haven't seen him. They seem to have retained all the camaraderie for which they were noted and are a much gayer bunch than ours - who, however, are the better for being away from Boulder There is a large contingent of July group men in the Communications section where Jack [pg 2] Williams, Bob Hubbell et al. are working. The latter are sworn to complete secrecy about their work and no one else can get in the building, which is set off by barbed wire and guarded by Marines with tommy guns. They work in three 8-hour shifts, 24 hours a day. I expect to get Jack's address soon. Toni's not here yet, unless she came this afternoon. Hugh is to give me his telephone number tomorrow. I thought I’d have so much time on my hands in Washington but so far I haven't had any to spare. Just as well with all those pretty Waves around. (I hope you know when I'm teasing you! - just an afterthought) Goodnight, darling - I love you very, very much. Warren |
