MONTGAZETTE Vol. 1, No. 3 Montgomery County Community College Friday, Moy 26, 1967 KATHY KING NAMED COLLEGE QUEEN Sue Curtiss Uianna rung GO TRIAD-GO! GO! GO! Since the founding of Triad last semester with only a handful of energetic students, Triad has grown considerably. Attendance at the bi-weekly meetings range from 40 to 70 students. Triad has completed the promotional work for the first MC3 Spring Formal (which is hoped will become a tradition at the school, and has set the stage for the crowning of Miss Montco '67. With the addition of new students in Triad, a need for additional student officials is becoming important. Elections for Vice-President, Treasurer, a.nd Recording Secretary were held on May 4th. The additional officials will help to organize additional activities. Triad is currently planning a TRIPLE-BLAST weekend, which will include a private party for Triad members and their guests, and a road rally. Topping everything off will be swimming, and other outdoor picnic games. All students who do not participate in Triad activities are urged to do so, especially with the rapid growth of Triad. It may soon become necessary to limit membership of the club so that it may participate as a true co-ed fraternity which it actually is. Do you remember the pressed moments of only a few weeks ago? The preparations for the Spring Formal exhausted the funds and jangled the nerves of many a MC3 student. But eventually the big day did come and with it the joy over' an affair that will remain for all of us the highlight of this the first year at MC3. The affair, appropriately named The Crown Ball was a huge success. It was so obviously well planned that to say things went smoothly would be a great understatement. The setting for the Crown Ball was the Maitre'D restaurant which is located at the Cheltenham Shopping Center. The dinner began just a few minutes after the set time of 8 p.m. It included a fruit cup, soup, veal parmesan, baked potato, green vegetables, salad, and ice cream roll. Coffee and a Danish Pastry buffet was served later in the evening. Music was provided by the "Del- Fines" of Lafayette College. The group played pop and contemporary music. Their style was slightly reminiscent of that used by the big bands of the latter thirties. All in all their performance was exceptionally good, and their vocalist's efforts merit special applause. The crowning moment of the Crown Ball was the announcement of the winner of the Miss MC3 (Continued on page 4} *?V. %*s»- j»*r. Joanne Smyth Sharon Wright LIBRARY NEWS Kathy King Officer Pratelli Speaks As you students have probably noticed, MC3 has acquired a new member of the staff - an elective constable complete with moustache. His name is Officer Piatelli,, Officer Piatelli resides in Con- shohocken, and as a maUer of fact, he even went to high school here. He is a state cop besides a school cop, so his authority extends over the students of MC3, and outside the school too. This offers him little leisure time. "I think the students here do respect my authority, which in turn, shows me the good student body," says Officer Piatelli. Officer Piatelli gives three rules to the students: 1. Please keep your friends out of the school unless you have permission from the administration. 2. No smoking will be permitted except in the lounge. If you are caught smoking, you get one warning, and then your I.D. card is sent to the Dean. 3. Make sure that you are attired properly. John Pratelli ELECTION INFO PAGES 3 &4 With the advent of term papers, in both English and History of Western Civilization, students have been using the library, many for the first time. With the help of the staff they have found useful material for their term paper. As the term papers are due, some this week and others in the middle of May, students who put off working on their term paper will be rushing to use the library. Will they ever learn that it is best to start early! Two weeks ago there was a notice posted stating changes have been made in the library hours. The library is now open Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. This change was made to help the students. New books are still coming in. Many new history, language, and many other books are coming in. I have noticed that the magazines are out of order, especially Life, Look, and Saturday Evening Post. When using magazines, you should put them back in order. It was supposed to have been sent to be bound. So please make sure you put what you use back where it belongs. Following these suggestions, you can help us run an efficient library. The library is here to help you, but we need your cooperation, if we are expected to run the library smoothly, Peggi Hoffmeier, Library Aide Drama at MC3 On Friday, May 19th our own Montco Drama Club presented two plays at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School auditorium. The performances: two one-act plays were directed by Mr. Harold Van Kirk who is well known in the local theatrical world. The first play, The Dumb Waiter, by the English playwright, Harold Pinter, was a combination of both the dramatic and serious sides of life. It provided an excellent commentary on the everyday exasperations that seem to be too much for "certain people." The second play, Maid to Marry was a delightful nonsense [ spoof on modern civilization by the European playwright Ionesco. Harold Van Kirk
