BULLETIN LYCOMING COLLEGE, WILLIAMSPORT, PENNA. April, 1949 Vol. II, No. 3 Alumni Council Posts Revisions In Constitution Association to Vote At Annual Meeting Alumni are asked to read care-fully the following proposed amendments to the Alumni Asso-ciation Constitution and By-Laws that will be presented for voting at the annual meeting on June 4. CONSTITUTION Arfrclc HI Membership The membership shall consist of two classes (a) Annual (b) Life. Article V The Executive Board There shall be an executive board which shall consist of the officers, 1 5 members of the Asso-ciation, the last retiring president and three designated class repre-sentatives elected during their sen-ior year. Article VI Standing Committees There shall be the following standing committees: (a) Finance, (b) Alumni Day Reunions, (c) Nominating. Other committees may be added by the executive board at any time. The chairman and members of such committees shall be appointed by the president, with the approval of the executive board, to serve for a term of one year. Article VII Annual Meeting Section 1. To be added, "lor the election of officers, the receiving of annual reports, and any other busi-ness that may come regularly be-fore the Association." Section 2. To be added, "Offi-cers, except the treasurer, shall be limited to a maximum of three terms. Members of the board who have served three years shall not be eligible for re-election until after the expiration of one year." Section 3. The terms of five of the board members and one class representative shall expire each year, and the vacancies thus caused shall be filled by five newly elected members, and one representative elected by the senior class. Section 4. Nominations may be made from the floor. (Cont'd pase i. col. 1) 46 Candidates for Baccalaureate Degrees Forty-six men and women will be candidates for the first baccalaureate degrees in arts and science to be conferred by Ly-coming College at Commence-ment on Monday, June 6. In addition to these students who comprise Lycoming's first Senior Class, there are 28 stu-dents completing two-years ter-minal courses in music, secre-tarial science, laboratory tech-nology, and medical secretary work who will also be graduated. 17 Grads Turn In Life Member Dues Seventeen new life memberships were paid in full to the Lycoming College Alumni Association during March. This brings to 40 the num-ber of persons holding life member-ships in the association. The new life members are: Sarah R. Proctor, '08; Martha Ann Went-zel, '42; Florence M. Hilbish, '12; Benjamin F. ALUNMI DAY SET FOR JUNE 4; NINE CLASSES PLAN REUNIONS Alumni Day on Saturday, June 4, is planned as one of the high-lights of Lycoming's first four-year Commencement week-end. Arrangements for the class get-to-gethers and reunion of one-time students and graduates of the form-er Dickinson Seminary and Junior College will be worked out by key persons among the reunionists and alumni from various geographical centers. P-R-O-G-R-A-M SATURDAY, JUNE 4 All Morning—Registration of Al-umni in Gym. 9:30 a.m.—Class Day exercises in Clarke Chapel. 12:00 p.m.—Alumni luncheon in Gym. Class Reunion lunches at same time and place. Group Singing. 2:00 p.m.—Alumni Association business meting. 3:30 p.m. — President's Reception at home of Dr. John W. Long and Mrs. Long. 6:00 p.m.—Banquet in Clarke din-ing room. Entertainment. 8:30 p.m.—Formal Concert by A Capella Choir in Clarke Chapel. SUNDAY, JUNE 5 Baccalaureate. MONDAY, JUNE 6 Commencement in Clarke Chapel. Although the limelight will naturally fall on the nine classes planning reunions, the College has extended a special invitation to all alumni to visit the campus Satur-day through Monday, June 4-6. Mrs. J. E. D. Huffman, president of the Alumni Council, announced that a program has been planned for Saturday that will interest all alumni. The classes scheduled to hold re-unions include: 1904, 1909, 1924, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, and 1944. An Alumni Luncheon for all classes will be one of the features of the day. Scheduled in the gym-nasium at 12:00 noon, it will be served as a box lunch and those at-tending will be guests of the Col-lege. Musical entertainment has been arranged in connection with the meal. Aininal Business Session The annual business meeting of the Alumni Association will begin at 2:00 p.m., and from 3 to 4 p.m. Dr. Long and .Mrs. Long will en-tertain at a reception at their home. Time of the evening banquet has been set at 6:00 p.m., in the Col-lege dining room. The reservations —$1.50 per person—must be made by May 27, the committee said. Details of the banquet program had not been completed when the Bul-letin went to press. The College announced that sleeping accommodations can be provided in the dormitories for per-sons wanting this service. The cost is 75 cents a night. Alumni wish-ing room reservations are requested to notify the College, giving the number in their party, time of ar-rival and departure, whether quar-ters are wanted for married couples, or others. Dormitory officials stated that it is impossible to pro-vide hotel service, and alumni will be expected to bring towels and soap. Alumni registration will be held in the gymnasium all day on Sat-urday and visitors are invited to use this building as a meeting place. LYCOMING COLLEGE ALUMNI DAY RESERVATION will I will not attend the Alumni Luncheon in the gymnasium at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 4. Please reserve tickets for the Banquet in the dining room at 6:00 p.m. at $1.50 each, need I do not need sleeping accommodations for myself and a.m. other person.
