Destructive Fiuf.axd Loss of Lives. •-A destructive fire occurred in Cincin¬ nati on Saturday the 4tli mst. About 4 o'clock the extensive pork packing estab¬ lishment of Messrs. Pugh & Alvurd. cur¬ ner of AValnut and Canal streets, was dis¬ covered to be on lire. It was filled with pork and laril —the building was one hun¬ dred feet in tront by sixty feet deep. 'The firemen and citi-/.ens rushed to the rescue, and a short lime after, an explosion tuuk place which threw oil'the rouf, and scat- tereil the walls in every dircctinn. 'The explosiun is suppused tu l.ave been caused by the generation of gas from the burning meaf. Destructive Fiuf.axd Loss of Lives. •-A destructive fire occurred in Cincin¬ nati on Saturday the 4tli mst. About 4 o'clock the extensive pork packing estab¬ lishment of Messrs. Pugh & Alvurd. cur¬ ner of AValnut and Canal streets, was dis¬ covered to be on lire. It was filled with pork and laril —the building was one hun¬ dred feet in tront by sixty feet deep. 'The firemen and citi-/.ens rushed to the rescue, and a short lime after, an explosion tuuk place which threw oil'the rouf, and scat- tereil the walls in every dircctinn.
