Thefollotaing Resolution^ tiiere lihttni- mously adopted^ viz: Whereas it has been proved to this Board, by undoubted Evidence that sun¬ dry evil disposed persons have been cir¬ culating slanderous -eports, as false, as they are wfckfed for the purpose of injur¬ ing the Credit o jVi\>e Company, in regard to the state of ni*^ Funds- Such aS, that the Compiny have more than g200,000 of paper iii circulation ; That they have drawn all the money frdm the State, that was appropi-iated: That the oMcers of the Company discount the turnpike Ordvsrs at 25 or 30 per cent &c. &c. Any Resolution ofthe Board to the contrary notwithstanding, & eve¬ ry act, order or resolution of the Board made for tho purpose of dispensing vvithf or excusing from the payment of thi* said five per cent per Month, are here¬ by repealed so far as relates to the Stock¬ holders aforesaid and the payment of their Stock, and no further. And whereas through the misconduct Sihd inattention of our immediate Repre¬ sentatives, and others whose duty xt was to patronise the Northern Route Turn¬ pike, the Company did tibt obtain a further appropriation from the State at the last Session of the Legislature ; and tire ill disposed have taken advantage of this and other circumstances to depreci-a.te the credit of the Companv, and Avhereas it is the imperious duty of the Managers to preserve the credit of the Institution unimpaired. Therefore Resolved. Thatthe Treasurer shall proceed with all reasonable dispatch to collect the ar¬ rears of Stock, and shall receive in pay¬ ment, only, Orders ofthe Huntingdon, Cambria and Indiana Turnpike Road Company, lawful Coin of the U. Slates, or Bank Notes that pass at par in tho City of Philadelphia, and that he give public notice of the same. The Board of Managers trust that the foregoing statement will convince any unprejudiced mind that the affairs of tho CoijBpany in a safe and prosperous Sit¬ uation, and that no one need to be a* fraid of holding their paper . Yet j wc have little doubt that subscriptions < to more than this amount can be obtain¬ ed during the present summer, and that a succeeding Legislature will bcmore fa¬ vorable than the lasl, at all events, that we shall have the agsistancc ofour own ' Representatives. Yesterday 22 ofthe crew of the priva¬ teer brig La /rresistable, formerly com¬ manded by c!(ptaiii Daniels, of this port^ were arresied, and commiited to the jail ofthis city. It appears that many atro¬ cious actil of robbery have been discrimi- nately committed. Among the unfortu¬ nate vessels plundered, is the schooner Superior, ofthis port, for New-Orleans, with passengers—-among the number were several ladies. The passenger's trunks were broken opeu, and robb^ii of every article of value; and even the ritlgt torn from thc fingers of the lady passen¬ gers; a Frcileh aad an English ship ^ixto plundered of many valuable arucles. Any Resolution ofthe Board to the contrary notwithstanding, & eve¬ ry act, order or resolution of the Board made for tho purpose of dispensing vvithf or excusing from the payment of thi* said five per cent per Month, are here¬ by repealed so far as relates to the Stock¬ holders aforesaid and the payment of their Stock, and no further. And whereas through the misconduct Sihd inattention of our immediate Repre¬ sentatives, and others whose duty xt was to patronise the Northern Route Turn¬ pike, the Company did tibt obtain a further appropriation from the State at the last Session of the Legislature ; and tire ill disposed have taken advantage of this and other circumstances to depreci-a.te the credit of the Companv, and Avhereas it is the imperious duty of the Managers to preserve the credit of the Institution unimpaired. Therefore Resolved. Thatthe Treasurer shall proceed with all reasonable dispatch to collect the ar¬ rears of Stock, and shall receive in pay¬ ment, only, Orders ofthe Huntingdon, Cambria and Indiana Turnpike Road Company, lawful Coin of the U. Slates, or Bank Notes that pass at par in tho City of Philadelphia, and that he give public notice of the same. The Board of Managers trust that the foregoing statement will convince any unprejudiced mind that the affairs of tho CoijBpany in a safe and prosperous Sit¬ uation, and that no one need to be a* fraid of holding their paper . Yesterday 22 ofthe crew of the priva¬ teer brig La /rresistable, formerly com¬ manded by c!(ptaiii Daniels, of this port^ were arresied, and commiited to the jail ofthis city. It appears that many atro¬ cious actil of robbery have been discrimi- nately committed. Among the unfortu¬ nate vessels plundered, is the schooner Superior, ofthis port, for New-Orleans, with passengers—-among the number were several ladies. The passenger's trunks were broken opeu, and robb^ii of every article of value; and even the ritlgt torn from thc fingers of the lady passen¬ gers; a Frcileh aad an English ship ^ixto plundered of many valuable arucles.
