Ping Ting Hsien, Shansi December 13, 1914 Dear Ones at Home- I dont know just what I shall write this week, for it seems everything has been just like always, nothing special to say. Yesterday we were out to a house warming. A former opium patients family had worked and the friends and neighbors were invited in for the occasion. It was much like people do in America. At this the friends bring gifts to be offered to the gods, so we took a picture from one of the S.S. rolls. There were lots of people there. Had a noodle dinner. The noodles are just flour and water and then pull out into long strings and cooked. They brot [sic] us each a bowl in and pretty soon another tray full of bowls came, it was noodles again. Well this was repeated for about five or six times and I think of the Chinese women ate that many bowls full. It was different from any feast I had yet had. We made use of the opportunity to tell the Gospel and sing songs.
